Major Music Festival of the Year (non-touring) – Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival (Indio, CA)

Music Festival of the Year (non-touring) – The Hangout Music and Beach Festival (Gulf Shores, AL)

It feels good to have such rad people represented in such a big way! Here’s to another great year of awesome shows, successful ticketing and super fun music times.

Jack Ingram & Hayes Carll play for the kids

Texas country mainstay Jack Ingram and rising star Hayes Carll, an emerging south Texas singer/songwriter, are putting their sultry Texas twangs to good use this February. They will both perform at Grounded in Music‘s annual Gala Fundraiser and Silent Auction on Wednesday, February 15th at the Gibson Guitar Showroom.

Grounded in Music is a nonprofit organization committed to inspiring under-privileged children to turn to music as a career, hobby or alternative to life on the streets. All proceeds from the gala event will go towards purchasing musical instruments for under-privileged youth, provide education in musicianship, teach music theory, develop educational scholarships and more.

There are a limited number of pre-party package tickets, which include food and drinks, so nab those tickets while they’re still available! More information about Grounded in Music can be found at www.groundedinmusic.org.

Big bear hug welcome to Rooster Walk!

The Front Gate Tickets family would like to extend the warmest, big ole bear hug to our newest musical cohort, Rooster Walk!

Rooster Walk is a music festival in southside Virginia with a mighty mighty cause, the Penn-Shank Memorial LLC. After the tragic death of two Martinsville, Virginia high school graduates, their close friends conspired to put on a music festival in their memory. All of the proceeds from the festival are used as a scholarship fund for one lucky winner at Martinsville High School via the Penn-Shank Memorial LLC.

We couldn’t think of a more worthy cause and are proud and honored to be chosen as Rooster Walk’s ticketing partner in their awesome mission.

Profilin’: Ashley T.

In our fourth company profile feature, we meet Ashley T., woman about town/wrangler of all things FGT and an all-round damn good woman. She keeps us all on our toes, drops off holiday cookies sometimes and buys us breakfast tacos every other Friday. In other words, SHE IS THE BEST AND WE LOVE HER FOREVER.

1) What do you do at Front Gate Tickets?

I’m the Operations Manager for the Venues & Promoters department.  I manage two Account Managers (Tess Y. & Lauren L.) and a Ticketing Assistant (Jamie K.) in addition to supporting my own roster of clients.  I help clients setup and manage their events and work festival box offices from time to time.  In addition, I help with development and bugs in the system.

2) What are some bands that you’re really digging right now?

I have to say that I am definitely not as hip as Natalie and Lauren, who have already been introduced.  In fact, I’m probably less hip than 85% of the employees at FGT.  Now, to answer your question… I am constantly listening to Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Pistol Annies, A.A. Bondy, Ryan Adams and I just recently let Bon Iver in to my life.

3) What’s the best show you’ve ever seen?

I’m not a Marilyn Manson fan, but I saw him perform at Roseland Ballroom in NY a few years ago and it BLEW my mind.  I was so scared pretty much the entire time… it really stuck with me.

4) What’s your absolute fave movie and why?

I think it might be Jurassic Park.  I was just thinking recently that I’ve probably seen that movie more than any other movie in my life.  I watch the entire thing almost every single time it’s on TV and we all know that’s at least 1-2 times per month.  That must mean it’s my favorite movie, right? (I’ve seen it SO much as well. Great flick. – Shrie)

5) If you could hang out with one band/artist or music industry mogul who would it be?

Honestly, I don’t really have a dream to hang out with anyone in particular.  I’ve met plenty of moguls and artists and I learned pretty quickly that they’re just people.  Some are interesting, some are not… some are a-holes and some could be your next best friend.

6) Would you care about sharing an interesting tidbit about yourself?

I play classical violin. I guess I should say that I played it since I haven’t opened the case this year but it’s just like riding a bike… I play the violin.  I started in 5th grade and I spent every waking moment from elementary through senior year of high school practicing and playing in orchestra at school and around town.  I wanted nothing more than to be a professional violinist up until my last year of high school when I honestly think I chickened out.  A bunch of my friends actually did it and I kind of regret not sticking with it now but the idea of relying on a talent that could be ended so swiftly with a broken finger scared me.  So, here I am… working in ticketing!

Adding to the Biz Dev team

Exciting things are happening here at Front Gate Tickets, and we’re absolutely stoked to announce the addition of two new Business Development hires: Steve Fore and Neal Gilbreath.

Steve made his merry way here from Musictoday, a division of Live Nation, where he was Director of Ticketing for five years. Not only did he succeed in expanding fan club ticketing for the likes of Kenny Chesney, The Black Keys, Phish and Tim McGraw while at Musictoday, but he also initiated “scalper-proof” ticketing solutions for artists, including NIN. We’re overjoyed to have him onboard and are thrilled about the future of Front Gate Tickets with Steve here by our side.

Neal recently joined the Front Gate Tickets team after a stint at Green Mountain Energy where he worked with festivals and events across the country to help reduce their environmental impact. He’s worked with fest mainstays Bumbershoot, Austin City Limits Music Festival and Kahbang Music & Arts Festival among others, and brings his excellent festival chops and varied experience to our budding sales and marketing team.

Please send out a warm, welcoming hug to our new additions. We’ll see you in 2012… surely the biggest, baddest and RADDEST year yet for Front Gate Tickets!

Free Week in Austin

Hey showgoers, party people and live music gurus… Free Week is about to begin! Free Week is a fabulous Austin tradition that runs the first week of January each year. A big handful of participating venues put on rad nightly shows featuring local Austin mainstays. It’s like a mini music festival, but FREE.

Austin Free Week is the perfect opportunity to scope some local bands and talent that you’ve been meaning to check out. Some highlights of the upcoming Free Week are: The Rocketboys, Bad Sports, Whiskey Shivers, Mike Wiebe, Mike and the Moonpies, Guns of Navarone, Frank Smith, Daniel Francis Doyle, Grand Champeen, The Nouns, Golden Boys, Octopus Project, Markov, Brownout and more!

After you stuff your face with holiday fixin’s, leave Grandma at home to snooze and come out to the Free Week party!

Frosty Holiday Mixup Listening

We listen to music. A lot. I mean, that’s kind of our JOB. So we couldn’t resist putting together a collection of songs that put us in the Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa/et al mood. It’s chock full of cheer and sparkly fun, with a healthy dose of holiday cynicism. You’ll heart it, we’re sure.

So take off that Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown Christmas tape and slap on this smooth-groovin’ Spotify playlist of semi-holiday tuneage and CRANK IT. Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa and even stodgy Aunt Pat will dig the holiday radness by the likes of  The Flaming Lips, Gary Glitter, The Swell Season, Galaxie 500, Eels, Animal Collective, Ra Ra Riot, The Kinks and more.

We christen it “Frosty Holiday Mixup”! (psst… click one one of the links to open the playlist in Spotify)

We Were Promised JammyPacks

So you’re cruising the town on foot, headphones in ears, listening to the raddest album you’ve ever heard. You can’t HELP but want to blare this greatness to the world, but long gone are the days when it was totally acceptable (and soooo fashionable) to tote along a boombox on top of your shoulder.

Enter the JammyPack. JammyPacks are mobile boomboxs positioned inside a fanny pack that you can sport ’round the waist. Yeah, I know.. I want one too!

You can educate the general public on your musical musings, engage strangers in mind-blowing conversation and look REAL cool doing it.

Where would you sport your JammyPack? Yes, you’re going to buy one. And don’t worry, you’re not going to be exiled underground like those ‘I WEAR MY SUNGLASSSES AT NIGHT’ jerks. Here a list of spots where you could sport this rad little bumpin’ pack:

• at Lollapolooza blaring Bob Marley as you’re walking across beautiful Grant Park on your way to see your favorite band play…

• at Occupy Wall Street amplifying corporate jingles because no ‘entity’ could’ve have produced something so awesome…

• at Muscle Beach humming to the tunes of Right Said Fred (truthfully, we can’t think of anything that gets us more amped)…

• at EVO establishing dominance with haudokens and anticipating the next DROP during the Flux Pavilion playlist…

Do YOU want to win a JammyPack AND a pair of tix to SnowGlobe Music Fest? We thought so! Like our Facebook page here to enter!
