SXSW tuneage and ATX goodness

Oh SXSW… we meet again. You, delectably raucous and mad. Me, grimy sweat cementing my already-sticky bangs to my forehead and glowing with a giant musical smile on my face. You always offer too much fun and so little time, and the rare opportunity to glimpse our musical heroes trekking the dusty downtown streets alongside us on their way to the next big show. You bring us the best of the best, an ever-evolving (and impossible to follow) lineup of bleeding-edgers and lauded mainstays. We’re glad you’re back… we’re just steadying ourselves for your onslaught of awesome.

Excited about all of this SXSW hullabaloo? Want to delve into our carefully curated playlist of bands you may not have heard before but will be rocking your world come two weeks from now? Coming in from out of town (or are a hardy ATXer yourself) and need a little advice on the best Austin has to offer? Yes, yes… and YES!

Go no further. Scope our excellent Spotify playlist of exciting artists playing the fest this year AND pin your little heart away with our SXSW + ATX Pinterest board. You’re welcome.

Metallica launches music fest, Orion Music and More

Metallica are no strangers to huge music festivals OR massive global tours. This time, they’re flipping the tables and launching their own music fest, Orion Music and More, in partnership with C3 Presents. The festival will go down in Atlantic City, New Jersey (Jersey?!) at an abandoned airport, Bader Field.

Metallica will cap off each day of the two-day shindig with a headlining set, playing the Black Album one night and Ride The Lightning the next, in their entirety. But Orion isn’t just about music… along with multiple live music stages there will also be several lifestyle elements that represent each of the band member’s particular interests. Specific details to be disclosed soon.

The lineup is still developing, but so far the confirmed acts are Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, Modest Mouse, The Gaslight Anthem, Cage the Elephant, Fucked Up, Best Coast, Hot Snakes, Titus Andronicus, Gary Clark Jr., Lucero, Roky Erickson, The Black Angels, The Sword, A Place to Bury Strangers and Liturgy. See further event details below.

Who’s setting your ears abuzz this year at Coachella?!?!

We Were Promised JammyPacks

So you’re cruising the town on foot, headphones in ears, listening to the raddest album you’ve ever heard. You can’t HELP but want to blare this greatness to the world, but long gone are the days when it was totally acceptable (and soooo fashionable) to tote along a boombox on top of your shoulder.

Enter the JammyPack. JammyPacks are mobile boomboxs positioned inside a fanny pack that you can sport ’round the waist. Yeah, I know.. I want one too!

You can educate the general public on your musical musings, engage strangers in mind-blowing conversation and look REAL cool doing it.

Where would you sport your JammyPack? Yes, you’re going to buy one. And don’t worry, you’re not going to be exiled underground like those ‘I WEAR MY SUNGLASSSES AT NIGHT’ jerks. Here a list of spots where you could sport this rad little bumpin’ pack:

• at Lollapolooza blaring Bob Marley as you’re walking across beautiful Grant Park on your way to see your favorite band play…

• at Occupy Wall Street amplifying corporate jingles because no ‘entity’ could’ve have produced something so awesome…

• at Muscle Beach humming to the tunes of Right Said Fred (truthfully, we can’t think of anything that gets us more amped)…

• at EVO establishing dominance with haudokens and anticipating the next DROP during the Flux Pavilion playlist…

Do YOU want to win a JammyPack AND a pair of tix to SnowGlobe Music Fest? We thought so! Like our Facebook page here to enter!
