The McDowell Mountain Music Festival is coming the weekend of March 3 in Phoenix, Arizona, and we are so excited. This year, the lineup features artists such as Flume, The Shins, and Dj Mustard. One of their most anticipated performers, however, is Grouplove.
After over a year of writing, recording, and producing, this five-member band finally released their third studio album – Big Mess. Christian Zucconi, one of the lead vocalists, explained to Interview Magazine why the band loves performing and missed it during their break, “When we get on stage we become our truer selves, I think; when we get to use music as our form of communication.” You can look forward to dancing to their upbeat hits such as “Tongue Tied” and “Ways to Go”. Grouplove’s songs stand out because of their unique balance. The catchy, upbeat music soundtracks the darker, deeper themes expressed in the lyrics, coming together to form their individualistic. recognizable sound.
November is starting off with a bang as tickets go on sale TODAY for McDowell Mountain Music Festival in Phoenix, Arizona with the release of the official lineup. 2017 dates are from March 3-5 and includes a lineup of both national and local acts including Flume, The Shins, Grouplove, Upsahl, Bear Ghost, Ozark Pappyand more.
McDowell Mountain Music Festival is so much more than a music festival, as people from all over the country come together to experience the 3 C’s of McDowell- community, culture and charity.
McDowell’s vast options of activities varies from a Kid Zone, Free Zone of activities, food and arts & crafts vendors, plus new additions. New additions for 2017 are a cooking demo with local chefs from Arizona to teach you some new tricks in the kitchen, drum circle to rock out yourself and live art as local artists paint to the beat of the music. As the community comes together for these amazing activities, McDowell also has a Zero Waste Goal, making sure all waste is disposed either through recycling or compost.
This environmentally friendly fest also donates all of its proceeds towards two local organizations in Arizona, Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation and UMOM New Day Center, the largest shelter for homeless families in the state. McDowell is a 100% nonprofit fest so you know your money and enjoyment from these 2 days of music goes towards a great cause.
2017 marks McDowell’s 13th year and since it started in 2004, it has raised over one million dollars for local charities. Come join the fest grounds in 2017 and come together with a crowd of music lovers, all while contributing to a great cause.
McDowell Mountain Music Festival is one of our favorites in the SW region. It’s a small festival with a big heart – and this year, they’re blowing it out of the water with their lineup. We’ve picked out a few reasons to head over to sunny Phoenix, AZ next Spring!
First and foremost, MMMF is Arizona’s only 100% non-profit music festival. Isn’t that incredible?! Now in its 13th year, they continue to send proceeds to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation and the UMOM New Day Center. The Phoenix Children’s hospital has become one of the leading children’s hospitals in the country and currently boasts 70 pediatric subspecialties. That makes it one of the most prestigious as well. The UMOM New Day Center is helping the homeless everyday. UMOM provides safe shelter, housing and supportive services to help many reach their full potential. Your ticket helps bring awesome music and awareness to great causes. Do it for karma!
THAT LINEUP THOUGH
The diverse MMMF lineup has something for everyone. Plan your trip to Phoenix now because you can’t miss some of our favorites including Beck, The Avett Brothers, or Porter Robinson.
Beck’s original sound is one of the many reasons his fans love him. His spin on pop music has earned him an Album of the Year Grammy win over the likes of Sam Smith, Beyonce, Pharell and Ed Sheeran. We cant wait to hear his hits, like this one, live in March.
The Avett Brothers are legendary rockers. They’re coming all the way from North Carolina to bring their signature sound that blends North Carolina mountain bluegrass with a healthy dose of folk, hip-hop, punk and classic rock mixed in. Come for the hits and stay for their stage antics and parade of instruments.
Porter Robinson, is another North Carolina native who brings an unforgettable light show and an EDM edge to the lineup. After producing hit after hit like produces hit after hit like “Flicker,” “Easy,” and “Language,” it’s not wonder this 23 year old artist won MTVu’s Artist of the Year Award this past March. Don’t forget your dancing shoes!
